AMF Music | April '25

"I've been here the whole time" 🌱

It’s a good month for AMF when I can keep all the highlights in-house 🙌🏾 Honestly it’s nice to have collaborators who enjoy curating for the newsletter, but it’s even better knowing what I’m sending out isn’t just from me! Still the usual rundown here - new w33kly and a couple playlists from friends - then down at the bottom I’ve got some upcoming shows for NY and LA folks.

I went to a matinee today of a beloved play, one I’d never seen, and it was a one-man show. Really beautiful. On my walk home, I tried to think of what message from it I might impart to you, and I feel like I almost had it! But then I just couldn’t stop thinking about how someone’s ringtone went off during a big monologue and it was Slim Shady and the man really waited in that position for about 15 seconds until she turned it off. It was so inappropriate, but I took it as a reminder to send my friends some new music 🫡

New w33kly is in - listen, follow, share! 🎧

Featured Playlist:

James has blessed us with another 30 for 30 for the Spring, and it’s full of gems. JENNIE, Skepta, Linkin Park, Fontaines DC, Cafuné, Larry June - there’s something in here for just about everyone and, in his words, “old stuff, new stuff, and everything in between.” I hinted last time at how 30 for 30 speaks to the sporty side of AMF, and we’ve been running with that baton since then (😳). This summer we’ll have a bit of sports content for those of you who are interested, and of course there will be playlists attached to everything if that’s all you’re here for. Until then, enjoy this set from James and find yourself a few favorites.

Just like with w33kly, this playlist updates by rotating songs in and out - so if you save the playlist, it’ll update in your library. Archived versions will be available if you go crate-digging on James’s page.

Featured Playlist #2:

A new playlist to save and keep at the top of the list for when you need some energy. This one was launched last month by Machine Doll (Planet) and inspired by their recent EP, Crash Out. As part of finding and growing their community of fans, this selection features tracks by artists whose sound and output feel reminiscent of Machine in this era - Rico Nasty, Princess Nokia, Slayyyter, and some of these are cuts as far as I know. Aggressive, loud, sexy I’ll admit it, and rave-ready.

If this is for you, then so is the recent Machine Doll project. The AMF community has been behind Planet since “Queen Bee” days, and the intensity is up in 2025. That link actually goes to Bandcamp since the extended version of Crash Out drops soon on May 2nd, the next Bandcamp Friday (“when we waive our revenue share and pass the funds directly to artists…!”). Obviously, All My Friends love to support when we can, so show some love on the indie channels if you have it.
