I will admit - and it’s not a bad thing - that w33kly is starting to challenge me. The reason it was never really weekly 🥴 is that I let it happen organically. I would add the songs that moved me and sequence them when I felt creative, then make some new artwork when I had 33 songs that felt like something to me. Now that I’ve made it a monthly installment, I’ve been pushed to listen to more music and keep the playlist feeling fresh like it did before. Keep listening, keep passing on your feedback, and keep scrolling for more music to keep you busy for the next few weeks. 🎧

I usually don’t share playlists curated directly by the major streamers - nothing against them necessarily, it’s just that music discovery feels like it should go a step deeper. But they’ve earned their place as music hubs, and sometimes those algorithms really be algorithming. I get newsletters from my burner Soundcloud (🤔) with actual music wrap-ups, and I’ve tried to make a point lately of clicking on them. Soundcloud has always had a reputation for its broad spectrum of music offerings, letting artists experiment and hone their sound before hitting the mainstream. Well today I clicked on this, and I was pleasantly surprised - there are artists here I’ve known for 15 years and some I was put onto in July, some I’ve worked for and a handful I’ve never heard of. A few here are bona fide mainstream stars already and some are so new they could be AI…just kidding, but I’ll let you decide.

I know I kind of complimented today’s algorithms in the section above, but I have been absolutely wrestling with Youtube’s lately. I figured I need to “watch Youtube better” if I want it to be more accurate, and my work might actually be starting to pay off. I stumbled upon a recommended video that drew me in with its artwork and title, and I ended up playing it in the background while I sat and did the letter. If you don’t like jazz, I’m sorry, and there will be more newsletters. But if you’re cool 😎 well then I think you’ll enjoy letting this one play while you sip a hot coffee and start trading out your crop tops for cardigans.
