AMF Music | Wrapping '25

Dropping soon...

Happy New Year’s Eve, friends. If you get handed the aux tonight, just remember you have this sitting in your inbox - unless you’re DJing an actual party, in which case you should have prepared a set and shouldn’t be in your email. 😂 Jokes aside, I’m trying as usual to keep it brief and get right to the music I promised you. This month, we got a special year-end 30 for 30 from James, bless him - he used the new playlist mix feature, which I haven’t even gotten to play around with. I updated a handful of playlists to round out the year too, along with photos from a shoot earlier this month with Mapate, all in the grid down below. Awesome Waiting Room is a chill take on elevator music, easy listening for getting going in the morning or waiting on hold; Hoops is for basketball runs, and I may be using it more often soon (inquire within if you’re in NYC); Raceway is “car music” inspired by racing movies and games. They’ve all been around, but now they’ve gotten a refresh for the new year.

As the website updates get wrapped up, I’ll be spending a bit more time curating news and editorial bits to include in the newsletter - in the meantime, you can help me test out the new Newsfeed and Studio pages, which some of you are already helping on. Or the Calendar, which now tracks sports events, entertainment awards shows, and music releases. Or you can visit the Changelog to see all the recent updates and what else is planned for the brand. The site is designed to always leave a door open for curious community members, and as we lean into different collaborations and partnerships in the new year, the platform will reflect many of the common interests shared by the creators and the audience. If you’re interested in curating or contributing to a themed, recurring playlist or creating original media in 2026, please send me a note.

Guest Playlist: 30 for 30 - Deluxe

Listen to James’s rundown of hits from Q4 and highlights from the year, a mix of genres for sure - it’s always a good sign when someone says they ended with more songs than they’d planned for. I don’t know much about James’s tech background, but I know he’s savvy enough to be early on things like messaging inside Spotify, and now he’s the first person I’ve seen using the full mixing feature on a playlist. So this is my first time using it, and since I’ve already publicly stood by his taste, I’m very curious to see how the transitions and heads-up info enhance the experience. Not everyone is supposed to be a DJ, but it’s cool to know a little more about what they do from the lens of our casual-listening playlists. If you didn’t check out 30 for 30 before, this refresh is a great excuse to save it ahead of the next update 🏆
